Odzala-News: poachers arrested and more than 300 snares disposed
Success stories in the battle against poaching in the Republic of Congo.

Last February the Odzala National Park Eco-Guards managed to arrest a poacher, who had killed an elephant. Two men dealing with weapons and ammunition were arrested, too. Furthermore, during numerous controls and seven patrols that lasted for several days each, the Eco-Guards confiscated ivory from two elephants, a poached antelope and eight monkeys. More than 300 snares were disposed.

Our new video is documenting the cruel reality of the “bushmeat” trade. Pressure on the populations of wild animals is increasing continuously. One of the reasons: more poaching. The region is offering very limited job opportunities and selling wild animals is promising quick money – at the expense of a unique ecosystem.
Additionally, the development of road infrastructure around protected areas facilitates the transport of poached animals, even for long distances. And demand is increasing...
Please help to spread information about odzala.com. By improving education and supporting local initiatives we can contribute to the conservation of this unique rainforest and its biodiversity. At the same time, we support local communities in order to present alternatives and to prevent poaching.

Believing eye witness the gorilla was sighted at Munich airport now. In his hands: a boarding pass to Thailand. Further information is not known yet.
